A wedge of layer cake stood on its base and seen side on. The cut face carries a small smiling mouth and two dot eyes on the top sponge, with fine diagonal hatching for crumb texture, then a cream filling band, a second sponge and a base band stacked below it. A scalloped row of piped frosting runs along the top back edge and a whole strawberry with its leafy calyx sits on the crown. This is a deep one — pour it in two goes and let the first set, or the layers slump into each other. Shown at 4in.
