Starfish Mold – Square Beach Tile with Rippled Sand

A square tile with a rough raised border, its face worked all over into rippled sand — fine wavy lines running edge to edge as though the tide has just gone out — and a five-armed starfish laid across the middle, each arm granular on top with a raised ridge down its centre. A couple of small shell fragments sit in the corners. The sand ripples are very shallow and they are what make it: cast in a sandy cream, drag a thin wash across, and they come up on their own.
